Damned if you do. Damned if you don’t.

When parents both work and claim tax credits and contributions to childcare costs, so someone else can look after their child, it’s an entitlement and they’re responsible.

Yet should a sahp choose to look after their own child, taking full responsibility for it,  their tax credits are seen as a handout and they’re irresponsible?

Double standards?

It’s like should a person find themselves unable to afford to stay at home and raise their family full time they’re told to get a job.

Yet working parents who whine about the cost of childcare are never told to stay at home and look after their children themselves.

Double standards.

Dammed if you do and dammed if you don’t.

If the physical, mental and emotional nourishment and security of our children is so unimportant why are the government prepared to subsidise childcare so heavily?   Surely that’s saying that looking after children is meaningful and important?

Unless of course you’re a parent.  Because dedicating your self wholly to looking after them just makes you a lazy feckless scrounger.
